Roland is an award-winning British Director and Photographer, born in Lancashire. He began taking pictures in his childhood, before working in a commercial studio and then going on to study for a BA (Hons) in photography at Blackpool College. Since then he has built up a distinctive style while working in various mediums. 

Exploring what is possible using the latest emerging technology, in the pursuit of innovation, is a passion. His Virtual Reality film 'Spatium' premiered at the 2017 South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. The work received notable press coverage, including features by USA Today and Vanity Fair, amongst many others.

2019 saw the release of a groundbreaking music video - the first rap video ever filmed with 3D Volumetric Capture - featuring Tino Kamal. The video was created using Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Capture technology, with Microsoft commenting on the final work, stating it contained “stunning visuals we’ve never seen before” and describing it as an “inspiring piece”. It had notable success at awards ceremonies, including winning the Silver Award at Ciclope International 2019 for ‘Best Use of Emerging Technology’.

2021 brought the the mixed reality experience ‘SONZAI’, showing at the V&A Museum in London for 9 days in September. An installation located in the prestigious Paintings Gallery, alongside masterpieces from the likes of Constable and Turner, the work was hailed as ‘showcasing a new form of Museum experience’ and was featured on the BBC TV show ‘Click’, seen by millions of viewers worldwide.

In 2023 he was named ‘Content Creator of the Year’ by Arts Council England, at their Digital Culture Awards held in Birmingham.

2024 sees him use his work to address the climate crisis, joining forces with Greenpeace to debut the free-to-visit 'Forsaken', an immersive short film made for the breathtaking wrap-around screens at the Outernet building in London, which was recently crowned the UK’s most visited attraction.
