THE STORY

  • FORSAKEN was designed for the 8k, 360 degree floor-to-ceiling screens at the breathtaking Outernet venue in central London, Europe's largest digital exhibition space and recently crowned the UK’s most visited tourist attraction. It premiered in January 2024, showing until the end of February. It then returned to the venue in July due to popular demand, running until the end of September. It has since been extended and will remain on display until the end of 2024.

  • The team at Cinesite worked closely with Roland to develop the overall design and CG build of the different stages of the life-cycle of the immortal Jellyfish, crafting each stage of the narrative as well as blocking out general timings and movement to utilise the unique space effectively. The sequence was realised using Cinesite’s standard VFX and Animation workflow rendering up to 8k per wall and resolving back to a 360 degree video at 50 frames per second which was then remapped onto each LED video wall to give a full immersive experience. The end result is an impactful film presented in 8k, on 360-degree floor-to-ceiling screens at Outernet London, set to an immersive sound design by Gareth Fry & accompanied by motion graphics created by Jonny Stopford.

  • Forsaken is a truly extraordinary short film, offering a mesmerising experience whilst sounding an alarm about the fragility of our planet's ecosystems. As London's premier attraction, the Outernet building provides the perfect platform for Lane's work to reach a wide and diverse audience, igniting conversations and fostering a greater understanding of the environment.

The work is not merely a cinematic endeavour but a powerful testament to the potential of art to inspire change, making us all more aware of our shared responsibility to protect the natural world. As the climate crisis looms large, Lane's work serves as a call to action, urging us to come together and make a difference for future generations”.
